Our sponsored riders, well-known showing brothers, Dain and Frazer Atherden share their top tips for making sure you’re completely prepared for the show ring this season.
Frazer says:
- It is important to keep calm and enjoy the experience
- With natives use clear hoof oil, this helps to gain that professional finish
- Read up on the correct attire for the particular class you enter. Sometimes less is more.
- If the horse/pony becomes “strong” or difficult, seek professional help. Try not to over bit if possible.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Dain says:
- Always make sure you wear the correct attire for your class.
- Ensure your horse/pony is turned out immaculately
- Remember that first impressions count when you walk into the show ring.
- Be polite and courteous to judges, stewards, fellow competitors and most importantly (according to my Dad) your parents!
- Don’t be afraid to ask the professionals for advice.
